The Court House

The Court House maintains a homely feel by dividing into groups in different rooms. This enables children to thrive within an environment focused on their age and developmental needs.

We open at 7.30am and close at 6pm with days planned around a routine of lunch, snack, singing and story times. This combines the security of structure with the flexibility and excitement of surprises and spontaneity.

BCC_CourtHouse_Quote_2Three to five year olds are led by a qualified teacher in a bright and vibrant pre-school with free-flow access into the garden. There is a varied programme of extra activities led by external teachers throughout the year including French lessons, Stretch-n-Grow, Football and Ballet. All of these activities are included in the hourly rate. Our Babyroom has different spaces and access into the front garden to ensure all age babies benefit from appropriate play and opportunities for movement. Our “small group room” is used to help nurture the older two year olds as they prepare to transition into the pre-school. The children enjoy using the gardens and outdoor spaces in all weathers.

As a small nursery we can provide a personal service and homely environment. Meals are freshly prepared on site every day by our cook, Lynne, and our menus are planned with reference to the Children’s Food Trust Voluntary Food and Drink Guidelines. We are exploring “baby-led weaning” in our Babyroom and have been astounded by how giving young children choice and independence improves their enthusiasm for eating a range of food.

We celebrate a variety of festivals and seasonal events such as Diwali, Chinese New Year and Mother’s and Father’s Days. We are always delighted when families join us to share their cultural celebrations. At Christmas we perform a concert which all families are invited to watch. In the summer we hold an opening evening and BBQ which has become a popular social event where we can all get to know each other better.

With us you don’t have to do fixed sessions. Subject to availability your child can attend nursery at times to suit you. All we ask is that your child attends The Court House Mapfor a minimum of eight hours over at least two days, as it is our experience that any less makes it difficult for a child to settle. Fees are calculated on a sliding scale so the more hours you do the less we charge per hour.

At The Court House we work hard to make nursery enjoyable for each individual child. Why not come and visit to see what we have to offer you and your child? Nursery Manager Lydia Mainstone is looking forward to hearing from you.
