Chinese New Year

At The Priory, we have been learning how to write ‘Happy New Year’ in Chinese characters for the Chinese New Year celebration. The children and I had an engaging and joyful experience trying to form the characters correctly. I carefully copied the characters from a printed sample to get the details just right. We also had red card and small paintbrushes dipped in black paint to write the characters. This made the process not only meaningful but also a wonderful way to appreciate the cultural significance and the wonderful artwork.

This was inspired by one of our Chinese parents, who gave me the idea of using a red card with black ink to symbolise their writing.
