Why choose our nurseries

Small
Bristol Childcare is a family run business with three nurseries across Bristol: The Court House in Knowle, Mornington House in Clifton and The Priory in Filton. We have over 48 years of running nurseries and our core values remain the same. Our ethos is small, homely and flexible and we achieve this through our focus on child-led care.

Homely
Our nurseries feel like home from home with cosy rooms and the welcoming smell of meals cooked on the premises using homegrown fruit and veg; we promote life skills using traditional arts and crafts; we choose natural resources, encourage a love of the outdoors and champion a focus on the traditional ways of doing things to reduce our environmental impact.

Flexible
With us you don’t have to do fixed sessions; hours are booked at times to suit you. All we ask is that your child attends for a minimum of eight hours over at least two days, as it is our experience that any less makes it difficult for a child to settle. Fees are calculated on a sliding scale so the more hours you do the less we charge per hour.

“The staff at Mornington House have been very caring, patient, playful and yet professional with both of our children. Any issues raised are always amazingly taken care of by the nursery manager. My husband and I can confidently and happily recommend Mornington House Nursery.” Review from PW (Mother of Child) submitted on 2 October 2019
The Priory – “They have made my return to work so much easier”
“The ladies at The Priory are all so welcoming and friendly. They have made my return to work so much easier than I thought it would be, as I know T is in great hands and having a lovely time!” Review from CS (Mother of Child) submitted on 1 December 2019
The Priory – “Responsive and empathic carers”
We are so pleased R has had such responsive and empathic carers who have helped him with his emotional development and celebrated his interests and achievements. M and K have really taken time to support us as a family through some challenging times in the past few months, for which we are very grateful.
The Court House – “Excellent staff who really care about the children”
“Wonderful nursery that feels like a family – excellent staff who really care about the children. The food is cooked on-site with lots of variety. There are always activities, fun things arranged to celebrate events throughout the year, I feel my children are in completely safe hands and would throughly recommend! Thank you.”
The Priory – “She has become so much more confident in exploring the world”
“IB has loved her time at The Priory and has built such a lovely rapport with all the staff in the baby room. They have encouraged her development in all areas and she has become so much more confident in exploring the world around her. I know she will cope well with the transition of moving house and nursery because of the support and nurture she has had at the Priory.”
Mornington House – “Offer a wide variety of activities”
“Our children are extremely happy at the nursery. They are well looked after and enjoy attending. We are kept well up to date with their progress through the daily app. They are offered a wide variety of activities including, French Lessons, Yoga and Football at no additional cost. They get a lot of time in the garden and the outdoor space. The nursery manager is excellent.” Review from R M (Mother of Child) submitted on 12 September 2019
Court House – “Have prepared her well for school”
“Excellent staff, who have been great with our daughter and have prepared her well for school. This is a lovely nursery and we could not have wished for anymore.” – Review from Mark L (Father of Child) submitted on 13 September 2019
Mornington House – “A very positive visit”
“Our need for a nursery place was quite last minute so I only visited 3. But when I stepped into MH it just felt right. Diane was so friendly as were all the staff who introduced themselves as we walked round. The rooms felt welcoming and cosy. The big garden was such a nice surprise. It was nice to see a big bunch of fresh mint ready for sensory play and a pre-school child setting the table for lunch. A very positive visit – thank you!”
