The children had been talking about seeing lots of hot air balloons in the sky which led to them playing with the parachute, as it is made of the same material. They then designed their own parachutes and made them using recycled materials. The children each chose their favourite Duplo person to tie to the parachute and launched them from the railings of the big garden down to the patio below. This opened discussions about speed and weight – some brilliant STEM learning went on through this activity!
