Some of the pre-schoolers at The Court House found three snails out in the garden. They decided to make them a family house to keep them all safe from being stepped on, when we are all out playing.
We talked about all the things the snails might need in a home, and the children worked together to get all the different things they needed. They collected logs, wood and sticks from around the garden. They searched for leaves to put inside and found the best safe place to make the snails their new home.
This is all developing their love of learning, their knowledge about the world around them and being able to think about and show care for living things in the environment. The children were extremely proud of what they had made. Once they had finished building, they carefully placed the snails in their new home, and told the other children to be careful!
