In the Baby Room at The Court House, we have been looking at space through ‘Space Week’. We have used rice to create a mystical scene which covers our space themed pictures. This will encourage the children’s language acquisition as we discuss our findings and encourage them to make discoveries as they manipulate the rice with their fine motor muscles, gaining development in control as we use a pincer grip and palmar grasp. We are including numbers and singing ‘Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, We’re Going to the Moon’ to make links to space and our circle time songs – a song that is very familiar!
We kept it simple with including the moon, sun, and earth to have a basic understanding of the world. Pre-School have also made a tray very similar but adapted to their age group with all of the planets.
