Recently at The Priory we had another visit from Elise at Woodland Makery. The theme for this session was winter. We rescued pompom birds, made wild bird feeders and birds out of pine and spruce trees and dowel. Elise also brought bird puppets with her, which she placed around the garden, adding to the fun.
Afterwards, the children gathered on a green mat that Elise had set up for them, providing a safe space away from the fire. She then talked about fire safety, emphasising the importance of staying back from the fire. To make the experience special, she provided marshmallows and sticks for the children to roast their marshmallows. There were also vegan marshmallows available for the vegetarian children, along with hot chocolate.
After the session, we continued with one of the activities that Elise had prepared for us, as some of the children didn’t have the time to complete it last week. The children enjoyed threading plastic needles through the orange peel to create bird feeders.
