Sinead and Laura are riding through the night this weekend to raise money for Women Vs Cancer in memory of Lisa, a member of the Bristol CHildcare team who died from Cervial Cancer last year. Read more and see how you can support them…
Sinead and Laura from Mornington House tell us why they have signed up to do a 100K bike race:
Laura and I registered for the Woman Vs Cancer race a week after our friend Lisa passed away after a year-long battle with cervical cancer. During the same week my auntie’s best friend (also a young mother) passed away from ovarian cancer. Laura and I registered for this race to support the three great charities and to help raise awareness of cervical and ovarian cancer in particular. We race for those who have lost their battle with cancer, those who continue to fight and those that may face the battle in the future.
It is out hope that we can raise money to support the charities that help sufferers and their families and to raise awareness to try and save lives.
Neither Laura nor I are keen cyclists and have not been on a bike since we were children so it is a big challenge for us, but one which we are dedicated too. We have begun training and are currently cycling about 10 km a time. My first spinning class was quite the experience and after the first song I was wondering how I could sneak out but I stuck at it and have been back each week since.
The race is in May and we will keep you updated with our progress.
