Bristol Childcare is delighted to announce that a defibrillator has been installed in each Bristol Childcare nursery.
This is the result of a fundraising campaign supported by the children, staff, parents and grandparents of the 3-nursery family-run group.
Managing Director, Saffia Bullock said “The idea came from staff first aid training in January 2017 where we learnt how fast access to a defibrillator in emergency situations can save lives. With all our staff being paediatric first aid trained, including how to use a defibrillator, we felt that the next step was to ensure each nursery had a defibrillator on site.
“We have been delighted and humbled by how children, staff, parents, grandparents and other family members have been involved in fundraising ideas and have given generously. Funds have been raised through fetes, dress up days, selling biscuits and preserves made by children and staff and selling tea towels and photographs. We would particularly like to thank the families who have been involved in this over the past 18 months but whose children have now moved on to school. It’s that sort of selfless community spirit which adds to the family ethos of Bristol Childcare.
“We would like to acknowledge the dedication of our staff who have organised lots of different fundraising projects and events, and also agreed to have “half” a Christmas present so that a donation could be made to the defibrillator fund. We would also like to thank Martin Foster of K2 Sports UK Ltd who has donated to the fund in exchange for use of land for triathlon events in the area around the BCC Head Office.
Whilst we all hope that we never have to use one of these defibrillators, it’s reassuring to know that this lifesaving equipment is now available in each Bristol Childcare nursery.”
