We had pumpkin day in the Twos Room at Mornington House! We talked about the pumpkin when we first arrived, comparing its size to other things in the room. Rachelle told us about Jack-o’-lanterns and showed us photos of them, describing how they are made. We then looked at different pumpkin faces and their emotions. We studied faces with different emotions, linking them to one of our core books, The Colour Monster.
After snack, we helped scoop out the seeds from inside the pumpkin; it felt slimy! Some of us loved exploring the seeds with our hands and moving them about with the spoons. We then chose which face to have, we wanted it angry, and Rachelle carved the face out for us. We mimicked what our pumpkin looked like and roared at it, pretending to be angry too. Jaz drew more pumpkin faces for us and we continued to talk about emotions as we coloured the faces in. We can’t wait to see our Jack-o’-lantern with a light in it!
