The whole nursery went on a trip to the Downs to see the twenty life-sized bronze lions which are being exhibited there. The Born Free charity installed the sculptures hoping to highlight the threats facing big cats in the wild and in captivity. Diane can remember watching the film when she was a child and that the name of the female lion was Elsa.
We had a lovely walk up to the Downs, talking about things that we noticed on the way. Some of the children were worried that we were going to see real lions, so we reassured them that they weren’t! We were all amazed at how big the lions are, and it was so interesting being able to look at them in such detail. We had our snack on the Downs and walked back in time for lunch.
