Every year on 20th May it is World Bee Day! This year, the babies at The Court House have been doing some junk modelling with some left-over egg cartons as they have used yellow paint to decorate them in readiness to turn into bees! The children really enjoyed getting stuck in with the paint as they used paint brushes and their hands to decorate their egg carton with yellow paint. Don’t they look great hanging from a plant, where bees usually would be?!
After this, we played with yellow playdough and created models of bees as well as put our little bug models in the dough to look at the prints left behind. This makes links to the EYFS understanding the world ‘looking at changes, growth, and decay in the environment’ as we discussed how bees contribute to our ecosystem as well as early literacy, extending our vocabulary to include words of significant importance and songs.
