Forest school session

At Mornington House, we had such a lovely visit from Elise from Woodland Makery. She taught us lots of different bird calls and we practised them – wood pigeons sound like they are saying “your pizza’s ready” and great tits sound like they say “teacher teacher”! We made bird feeders with coconut oil and seeds and learned how important it is to help feed the birds during the winter months. We had an owl hunt around the garden and painted pictures of birds onto log slices. Elise taught us how to be safe around a fire and we enjoyed making and eating s’mores and having a warming drink of hot chocolate. The children and adults all agreed that they would have liked to spend the whole day outside – thank you Elise, please visit us again!

We are looking forward to hosting Elise at The Court House on Thursday 18 January for another bird-themed session.
