Woodland Makery

Mornington House had another fantastic visit from Elise from Woodland Makery. The focus this time was autumn. We washed apples before cutting them into circular discs. We then threaded some wool through the apples to make bird feeders. We decorated them with cloves, star anise and pumpkin seeds. We also made apple crumble in takeaway containers. We cut the apples into small chunks, then put them into the apple press and turned the handle to squeeze the juice out. We then tried the freshly squeezed apple juice.

We also listened to stories: ‘Apple, Pear‘ and ‘The Magic Tree‘. We sang our nursery song ‘Way Up High in the Apple Tree’ for Elise. When we reflected on our busy morning, the children all said tasting the juice was their favourite activity.
