The purpose of this policy is to demonstrate how Bristol Childcare is committed to minimising the impact of its activities on the environment.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Minimise waste by evaluating operations and ensuring they are as efficient as possible.
Minimise emissions through the careful selection of electricity and gas suppliers.
Select resources that are as environmentally sustainable as possible, taking into account other business requirements.
Update systems to reduce reliance on paper and printing.
Actively encourage use of public transport, bikes and walking for transport of staff and children.
Actively promote reducing, reusing and recycling, both internally and amongst parents and children.
Meet or exceed all the environmental legislation that relates to Bristol Childcare.
Ensure that all hazardous waste including nappy waste is carefully disposed of in accordance with legislation. Work towards disposing of this waste in the most sustainable way possible.
Continually seek to improve environmental performance, by using energy and water efficiently and reducing waste and pollution.
Raise awareness, encourage participation and train employees in environmental matters.
Role model careful consumption.
Communicate environmental aims and objectives to employees, parents and children.
Teach the children to respect and enjoy their environment and to understand what it means to care for it.
IMPLEMENTATION
Our guiding principles are implemented throughout the whole business as set out in our Environmental Statement, attached as Appendix 1.
We have a Climate Action Plan (we use the Friends of the Earth CAP) which is reviewed as required, and at least annually, and used to help us plan improvements.
