Policy 34: Compassionate Leave Policy

COMPASSIONATE LEAVE POLICY

In the event you suffer a bereavement involving a member of your family or a close friend, the Company will exercise its discretion to allow reasonable time off. What is reasonable will be determined on a case by case basis and the type of leave, whether paid or unpaid, will depend on the circumstances and the relationship you had with the individual.

In addition, there may be occasions where it may be necessary for you to take compassionate leave. Again, this will be considered on a case by case basis and dependant on circumstances, may be paid or unpaid.

You will not be eligible to receive paid bereavement or compassionate time-off benefits while off, or absent from work because of holiday, sickness (paid or unpaid) or for any other reason.
